Hello! Welcome to More Than a Book Review. I love reading and I love learning. More importantly, I so much value the impact of reading throughout a lifetime has on our growth as people. One of the goals of More Than a Book Review is to make reading interesting for all and perhaps inspire a few tenuous readers to give a new genre or book a try. Sometimes it is overwhelming trying to select the right book for how you feel or the mood you are in or your reading level. My hope is that this blog assists with that.

So about the name, have you ever noticed that most book reviews you read online are only focused on what happened in the book? I want to share with you through this journal not so much what happened in the book, but what happened because I read the book. Each post will share what new words I have learned, what quotes made me stop and write them down, and sometimes what a book gave me the inspiration or courage to try. I’ll also be sharing how the book fits into my personal story and narrative through this crazy experiment called life.

When I read certain reviews, I sometimes want to know why the person read this book at this time, how did the book change they way feel about certain social issues, what exactly will make them remember this book throughout their lifetime. The books featured on this blog will span the centuries, genres, life experiences and viewpoints. I encourage you to leave comments about how the featured book impacted your life (or perhaps didn’t) in a meaningful way. One of the best things about books is that two people reading the same book at the same time in their can and will have a completely different experience and opinion. And that’s wonderful!

Each of us has a story about that one book that was able to worm it’s way into how you think about and process your life. My hope is that through sharing my experience with a book you will be better equipped to find the right book to help you grow in and through your next human experience.
